Testing and certification system for textile raw materials and end products for harmful substances.
OEKO-TEX describes STANDARD 100 as “a label for textiles tested for harmful substances”, where “every thread, button and accessory have been tested against a list of over 1,000 harmful substances”. The component-level reach is what textile buyers are actually buying: a certified article is not a spot check on the fabric but a test regime that runs down to trims. The scheme also notes that testing costs for a finished product are waived where all components already hold STANDARD 100 certification.
