India–Costa Rica trade: India's Ministry of External Affairs (bilateral brief, October 2023) puts India–Costa Rica trade at US$253.50 million in 2022-23. India buys wood and wood articles, integrated circuits and micro-assemblies, wood pulp, iron and steel, nuts and coffee; it sells miscellaneous chemicals, pharmaceuticals, medical and surgical implements, organic chemicals, rubber and plastic articles. Infosys, L&T Infotech, Wipro, WNS, CSS Corp and Gravita operate in San José, and UPL made Costa Rica its Central & Latin America regional headquarters in 2019.
Diplomatic frame: The Embassy of India in Panama is concurrently accredited to Costa Rica; Costa Rica opened its New Delhi embassy in April 2010, and India appointed an Honorary Consul General in San José in 2022. The 2019 visit of India's Vice-President was the first high-level Indian visit ever.

The MEA's October 2023 brief puts 2022-23 trade at US$253.50 million — the largest India line in Central America bar Guatemala — with an unusual import mix for the region: integrated circuits and micro-assemblies alongside wood and coffee, the residue of Costa Rica's high-tech manufacturing base. The Indian side is chemicals, pharma and medical devices, plus an on-the-ground services footprint: five Indian IT majors in San José, about 600 Indian IT professionals deployed, Bajaj two- and three-wheelers assembled locally by MASESA, and UPL's regional headquarters.
