EU requirement under ESPR for a digital record of a product's sustainability attributes, materials, and end-of-life instructions.
The digital product passport is created by Regulation (EU) 2024/1781, which establishes “a framework for the setting of ecodesign requirements for sustainable products”, and defines the passport as “an information system that makes information available to actors along the entire value chain.” The definition is deliberately about access, not content: which products need a passport, and what it must hold, are set product group by product group under the framework rather than in the Regulation itself.
